Maintaining Your Hat
TRIMMING LOSE ENDS:
To keep your hat looking neat, you an use a small pair of scissors to carefully trim any loose ends of raffia. Gently snip the stray fibres close to the surface - just be sure not to cut into the main weave. This quick touch-up helps maintain the hat's clean finish and natural beauty over time.
CLEANING YOUR HAT:
To maintain its appearance, lightly brush your half with a soft bristled brush. For small marks or stains, gently clean with a baby wipe or slightly damp cloth. For more stubborn stains, we recommend taking your hat to a professional cleaner.
Avoid getting your hat wet, as moisture can cause the straw to swell and lose its form.
Reshaping Your Raffia Hat
If your raffia hat loses its shape over time, you can gently reshape it using steam. Hold the hat over a gentle stream of steam from a garment steamer, keeping a safe distance so it doesn't get too wet. Once the raffia softens slightly, use your hands to carefully reshape the brim or crown. Allow it to cool and dry completely before wearing or storing.
Storing Your Hat
Some of our hats are designed to be packable for travel, while others are crafted to hold their shape and are best stored flat. Please refer to each product description to confirm whether your style is packable.
To help preserve your hat's shape and quality, avoid rolling or folding it for long periods of time, even with packable styles. Never store your hat resting on the brim, as this can cause it to lose its shape. Instead, place it upside down on the crown, or ideally, keep it in a hat box to protect it from dust and maintain its structure.
Store you hat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or head. Avoid leaving it in your car, as excessive heat can cause the straw to shrink or distort. We also recommend avoiding wall hooks, which can alter the shape of the brim over time.
Travelling With Your Hat
FOR PACKABLE STYLES:
These hats are designed to be rolled and tucked neatly into your suitcase. Roll from one side of the brim to the other, gently securing it within your clothing to help it hold its shape while on the move.
FOR NON-PACKABLE STYLES:
We recommend keeping the shape intact by filling the crown with soft clothing - like t-shirts or undergarments - and laying the hat flat in your suitcase. Pack your clothing around the brim for protection, avoiding any heavy items on top of the crown.
