Mother's Day | Celebrating our Mothers
To celebrate Mothers Day this year, we have been fortunate to chat with inspirational women Rebecca Burrow, Montarna Pitt, Avenue co-owner Jessie Shand, Jessie Lawson and Nikki Ehrlich about Motherhood.
First, we speak to Montarna Pitt who shares with us what kind of mother she aspires to be, who inspires her most as a mother and her advice on the best Avenue piece for the bump.
Montarna Pitt
What is your pregnancy style?
“I like to dress as close to my usual style as possible. I didn’t buy any maternity clothes while I was pregnant with PJ, I just sized up in my favourite things. This worked in my favour as I found I’d invested in timeless pieces that I then got wear out of again post-partum (while I was deflating!). I’ve now got them stored away for my next pregnancy and look forward to bringing that wardrobe out again one day.”
What Avenue piece would you recommend for the bump?
“Avenue have SO many perfect maternity pieces that can stay with you post-bump too. I have a soft spot for the Isadora dress – the cut out is in the perfect place to show off a gorgeous bump and feel sexy without exposing too much.”
Rebecca Burrow
Mini Marley founder and mother, Rebecca Burrows pictured with daughter Arabella Rose shares with us what motherhood means to her and her favourite Avenue pieces.
What does motherhood mean to you?
Motherhood is an incredible privilege and a huge responsibility. Motherhood gives me the opportunity to navigate life with a new outlook and reason for being and to grow my heart beyond boundaries that I ever knew existed. Motherhood means that I get to bring up children and try my best to instill qualities that are important to me and my family. To make sure that I am doing everything in my power to make them feel constantly loved and supported in everything they do so they can achieve their dreams and flourish the way I know they can.
How will you be spending Mother’s Day this year?
Most probably spending 5 minutes pampering mum, then forgetting that it is mothers day and going back to lur crazy, wild reality. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Jessie Shand
We sit down with co-owner and recent mum, Jessie Shand. Jessie discloses how she balances her work and being a mum, her favourite Avenue pieces for mums-to-be and the post pregnancy styles she lives in.
What does motherhood mean to you?
Unconditional love, pure joy, a lot tears (not just from the bub), endless nappy changes, and the most beautiful sounding coos from my 3 month old, Billie.
How do you balance your work and being a mum?
Ahh balance, still figuring this one out! Having a newborn whilst juggling work (and being the perfectionist I am) has certainly had its challenges. I’m learning the importance of not being so hard on myself and practicing patience whilst I’ve navigate this wild and wonderful ride. I’m so lucky to have an incredible support network around me, including a boss-lady business partner and my family.
Jessie Lawson
Jessie Lawson, pictured with newborn Leo, gives her perspective on what Motherhood means to her and gives her best advice she received before becoming a mother.
What does motherhood mean to you?
Motherhood is the most natural journey I have ever embarked on. I feel like the best version of myself. Motherhood is all about nurturing, understanding, connection and love. I aim to make my son feel as secure and loved as I possibly can. My family is my focus and I am inspired to work hard for them and create a space where they can flourish and grow.
What was the best piece of advice you received before becoming a mother?
Trust your self, just as your body knows how to grow your child it also knows how to raise your child.
Nikki Ehrlich
Mum-to-be Nikki Ehrlich, founder of Enesea Jewellery, gives us insight into what kind of mum she aspires to be, her favourite Avenue piece she recommends for the bump and her pregnancy style.
Today we want to celebrate and thank all our mothers and the special women in our lives, in honour of Mothers Day.
