Avenue At Home Series | Jessica Yolanda Kaye

For our 'Avenue At Home' series we caught up with London-based artist Jessica Yolanda Kaye.
Jessica shares with us about her career, inspirations, and her favourite pieces from her current collection!

Q: When and how come you moved to London? Do you miss Australia?

J: My fiancé and I moved to London three years ago. We wanted a change of pace, to push ourselves creatively and to travel as much as possible.
I do miss Australia, especially on gloomy grey days. I miss coastal walks with friends, a chocolatey cappuccino and hanging with the fam.
Q: When do you feel inspired most?

J: I feel most inspired when I’m travelling and in nature with my phone far, far away. I recently spent a few weeks in Sicily, which was incredibly inspiring. We woke up with the sunrise every morning and started our day with a swim in the sea.
Q: Have you always wanted to be an artist?

J: No. Well not consciously! For the first 25 years of my life I made career decisions based on what I thought I “should” do. It took me being miserable in a corporate job to realise that path was not for me. I took a few months off and found myself spending my days painting and listening to podcasts. Luckily, I’m still going :)
Q: Which is your favourite piece that you’ve designed?

J: I feel very connected to an artwork I painted last year after a trip to Palazzo Daniele in Puglia, following London’s first lockdown. It’s titled ’The Sweet Escape’.
